The Brick Comic Network
I’m one of the founders. We’ve a consortium of a whole bunch of LEGO comic authors who collaborate to help spread awareness of our little sub-genre. We also help new brick comics out there to avoid rookie mistakes, share solutions to various problems we’ve encountered, and drool over the newest offerings from the LEGO group.
We have a blog, a forum, a wiki, and other projects. Check us out.
Comics I Read
First and foremost, I have to give mad props to the Order of the Stick, one of the first webcomics I read and my main inspiration early on. Without OOTS there would never have been a BES
Secondly, I have to give even madder props to MS Paint Adventures, which is by far my favorite webcomic. It’s had surprisingly little influence on my comic, but it’s had a major impact on basically all of my speech patterns. All of them.
Thirdly, some additional props go out to Erfworld, specifically Book 1, for telling a good story and then teaching us all exactly what not to do when you find fame fortune just after finishing the first story arc of your comic.
I also want to mention Serious Emotional Disturbances, a great webcomic which (at the time of this writing) I’m not sure is even updating as a webcomic anymore.
And finally, Kid Radd. By far the most creative use of the webcomic medium I’ve ever seen (with the possible exception of MSPA) and a damn good story in general.
I’ll probably think of other things to add to this list later.
